Connie H. Van Buskirk, 90, Of Norwalk, Kitchen Assistant At Elderhouse

NORWALK, Conn. - Connie H. Van Buskirk died Sept. 6. She was 90.

Van Buskirk was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Freckleton, England, to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Threlfall. She worked at Sharp’s Department Store in England and joined the British Land Army during World War II and served over three years. After her marriage she came to the United States. She served in numerous volunteer positions at the former South Norwalk Congregational Church (Currently UCC of West Norwalk) including flower committee chairperson, the Missions Committee and Pro Cons. She worked at Elderhouse as a kitchen assistant and volunteered at the Norwalk Tourist Center.

Van Buskirk is survived by her sons, David T. Van Buskirk (Linda), Robert T. Van Buskirk (Patricia) of Norwalk; four grandchildren; two nephews in Freckleton, England; and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, David T. Van Buskirk; son, William G. Van Buskirk; and brother, James Threlfall.

There will be no calling hours and services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Van Buskirk’s memory may be made to the United Congregational Church of West Norwalk, 275 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT 06850.
