Charles C. McGorty, 82, Longtime Teacher At Norwalk High School

SUMMERFIELD, Fla. - Charles C. McGorty of Summerfield, and Brookfield, Conn., died Saturday, Nov. 30. He was 82.

McGorty was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Greenwich, Conn., son of Bernard and Kathryn Clark McGorty. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Charles received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, at Fordham University, a Master's of Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport and a 6th year Certificate from University of Connecticut. He retired from teaching business and marketing classes at Norwalk High School for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the Norwalk Federation of Teachers Local 1723, the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut, a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus in Belleview, Fla. and the American Legion.

McGorty is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Charles C. McGorty Jr. (Lisa) of Wantagh, N.Y., Michael J. McGorty (Judy) of Brookfield, Conn., Thomas P. McGorty (Celeste) of Shelton, Conn., Judith A. Orlovsky (Dan) of Oxford, Conn., Dorothy M. Leary (Paul) of Brookfield, Conn., John W. McGorty (Lisa) of Wilton, Conn., James B. McGorty of Norwalk, Conn., and Philip T. McGorty of Fairfield, Conn.; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Bernard T. McGorty; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 6 at 11a.m., meeting directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
