Bruce Meek, 62, A Longtime Norwalk Resident, Founded Slide Zone

NORWALK, Conn. - Bruce Meek, a longtime Norwalk resident, died July 28. He was 62.

Meek  was born April 17, 1951, in New York, son of Florence Elizabeth and Lt. Col. Wilbur Meek. He spent the majority of his childhood years in post World War II Germany where his father was stationed at various Army bases. He worked for Kew photo labs in 1976 when he moved his family to Norwalk. Later on he founded Slide Zone, and since then was focused on his work as a consultant.

Meek is survived by his wife, Lynda McKinley Meek; brother, David Meek (Jean); daughter, Karen Meek; sons, Steven (Lara Scalzi) Meek, Bryan (Mary McKeever) Meek; and a granddaughter. A celebration of Meek’s life will be held open to the public Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall St., in Norwalk. A brief prayer service will commence at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be conducted privately by the family at a later date.
