Bruce LeVine Mellion, 68, Longtime Norwalk Teacher

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.. – Bruce Levine Mellion, of Bridgeport, died at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 8. He was 68.

Mellion was born in Hartford in 1947 to Dr. Gilbert LeVine Mellion and Ruth (Berman) Mellion.

He graduated from Conard High School, Keene State College and Eastern Michigan University.

Mellion spent 31 years teaching industrial arts at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, and served as president of the Norwalk Federation of Teachers for the last 15 years.

With his siblings, he established the Levine Mellion Parent of the Year Award Endowment at Keene State, given to parents of students with disabilities or who participate in the ASPIRE program or equivalent at the college.

Mellion also launched the Fred Frosher Excellence in Writing Award at Keene State.

Mellion is survived by his mother; brothers Paul of San Anselmo, Calif., and Dan of Tiburon, Calif.; sister Joan and her partner Kenneth Lavin of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif.; and his former wife Linda Zucker Mellion.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m., at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, at 88 Beach Road in Fairfield.

Interment will follow at Loyalty Cemetery in Fairfield.
