Benedetto Guarino, 95, Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — Benedetto "Ben" Guarino, of Norwalk, died in his home on Monday, Sept. 28. He was 95.

He was born in North Bergen, N.J., on Feb. 27, 1920, to Frank and Frances DiSalvo Guarino.

Guarino served in the Army during the Korean War and World War II, moving to Norwalk after his service with his family.

He served 20 years as general manager for the B. Lipnick Supply Corp. of Bridgeport, and became an active member of local organizations in Norwalk after retiring.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Aulenti; two granddaughters, Melissa Nadin-Messner and Meredith Anne Briganti; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Messner, Kirsten Messner and Nicholas Briganti.

Guarino was predeceased by his parents; wife Cristina; brother Sal; and grandson Kevin Nadin.

Calling hours are on Friday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, located at 5 E. Wall St. in Norwalk.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church, located at 216 Scribner Ave.

Interment will follow with full military honors at St. John's Mausoleum in Norwalk.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to either the Wounded Warrior Project or Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County.
