NORWALK, Conn. – Barbara Lee Steeg, 51, of Norwalk, died Monday, March 31.
She was born March 7, 1964, and was a daughter of the late Richard and Karen Lee Steeg.
She graduated from the University of Connecticut and worked as a circulation director and direct marketing professional. She was actively involved in Unitarian Universalist congregations in Miami, Florida; Columbus, Ohio; and Westport. She passionately worked for various social justice causes, including immigration and prison reform. She was an active volunteer at Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Bridges: Domestic and Sexual Violence Support of Nashua, New Hampshire; Project MENTOR; and The Mindfulness Bell journal. She also was on the board of advisers and reviewed publications for Belletrista, an international women’s literary magazine.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy John Neeld; daughter Nadia Abudi; two stepdaughters, Elliot and Avery Neeld and one brother.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of her life from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 E. Wall St.
