Kovlakas was born in Florina, Greece. She came to the United States in 1963 with her husband and daughter Rita, settling in Detroit, Mich., before moving with her family to Norwalk. She was employed as a seamstress, before she became a homemaker.
Kovlakas is survived by her children, Rita Tsingerliotis (George) of Norwalk, Paul Kovlakas (Lisa) of Milford, Anastasios (Andy) Kovlakas (Kara) of Trumbull; brothers, Michael Kosmides (Vickie) of Brownstown Township, Mich., James Kosmides (Angela) of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Paul Kosmides (Tara); sister-in-law, Paraskevi Kovlakas; six grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Aristides Kovlakas; parents, Paul and Maria Kosmides; grandson, Aristides Tsingerliotis; brother-in-law, George Kovlakas; and sister-in-law, Eleni Zlatidou.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Services will be held Wednesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.
