NORWALK, Conn. – Armondo Maiorino of Norwalk died Sept. 17 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, Conn. He was 87.
Maiorino was a retired tax assessor for the city of Norwalk.
Born Feb. 11, 1925, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Louis and Elisa Garabo. He was married to Rose Lasorte Maiorino for more than 55 years.
A World War II and Korean War veteran, Maiorino worked as a bookkeeper for most of his life. Recently, he owned the Four Point Grocery Store. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Maiorino is survived by his wife, Rose; four children, Nancy (Gregg) Layman, Michael Maiorino, Louis Maiorino, all of Norwalk, and Laura Jennings, of Monroe, Conn.; a sister, Ann Simonetti; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by three siblings, Angie Infantino, Michael Maiorino and Jean DiGiacomo.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Jerome Church in Norwalk. Burial with military honors will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.
