Anthony Rignola Sr., 94, WWII Vet, Formerly Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Anthony "Tony" J. Rignola Sr., a former Norwalk resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Zephyrhills, Fla., where had lived for the past 26 years. He was 94.

He was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frank and Theresa Guerra Rignola. A Norwalk resident most of his adult life, Rignola was married to Carmela Pinto Rignola for 42 years. She predeceased him.

He raised his family in Norwalk, retired from Pitney Bowes and was a veteran of World War II.

Rignola is survived by his wife of 22 years, Doretta Rignola; four children, Theresa Adinolfi, of Little River, S.C., Anne Mossop, of Norwalk, Patricia (Frank) Petrillo, of Trumbull, and Anthony J. (Francine) Rignola Jr., of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Ann Pinto Mackin; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Sabbarese and Mary Sharkany; a brother, James; a granddaughter, Jodi-Anne Adinolfi Conte; and two sons-in-law, William Mossop and Richard Adinolfi.

A family memorial will be held in Norwalk at a later date. Hodges Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
