NORWALK, Conn. – Andrew Joseph "A.J." Hoenig of Norwalk, who celebrated his first birthday less than two months ago, died Sept. 6 with his parents by his side.
Born July 18, 2011, in Norwalk, A.J. was the son of Andrew Brad Hoenig and Christiana M. Raucci. A.J.'s family described him as a beautiful boy with big brown eyes and dirty blond hair. His family called him "Bubs" and said he brought joy to everyone's lives daily with his continuous smiles, laughing and clapping.
A.J. experienced and enjoyed many things in his short life, including visiting his extended family in Texas and South Carolina and frequent trips to the "501 Club" in North Pownal, Vt. He enjoyed trips to the playground at Calf Pasture Beach, frequent wagon rides for ice cream and strolls to visit friends throughout South Norwalk.
He was predeceased by his maternal great-grandfather, Joseph George Terenzio; his maternal great-grandparents, Thomas and Ida Raucci; and his paternal great-grandparents, Oscar and Eleanor Hoenig.
He is survived by his great-grandmother, Carmella “Millie” Terenzio, of Stamford; his maternal grandfather, Michael A. Raucci, of Hamden, Conn.; his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Donna Terenzio and Gary Dohrmann, of Fairfield; his paternal grandparents, Sid and Gig Hoenig, of Wilton; his godparents, Elizabeth Terenzio and Steven Terenzio; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of the angels will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John's-St. Mary's Cemetery in Norwalk. The family will receive friends at The Ginger Man, 99 Washington St., Norwalk, immediately after services.
