NORWALK, Conn. – Rowayton native Amy E. Klopfer Terao died Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was 43.
Terao graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1987 and received a bachelor’s degree from Salve Regina College in Newport, R.I. She earned a master’s in education from Southern Connecticut University.
Terao had worked as an English teacher at Sakuranbo Kindergarten and Kaisei Junior High School in Utsunomiya, Japan. She was a member of Worthington Hills Garden Club, where she served as vice president.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, cycling and spending time with her family and friends.
Terao is survived by her husband, Akira Terao, of Powell, Ohio; her parents, Louis and June Klopfer, of Rowayton; a brother, Michael (Margaret) Klopfer; her parents-in-law, Tomiji and Makoto Terao, of Aichi, Japan; two nieces and a nephew.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Rutherford Funeral Home in Powell. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Patricia Stout officiating.
