NORWALK, Conn. Hannah Castaneda, 8, didn't know there would be a demonstration Saturday in her favorite locale, but she joined right in. Hannah, who is part of a community of people who visit Calf Pasture Beach every Saturday and know each other well, joined the Hands Across the Sand line, handing hands with activists. The adults who love her were not surprised. "She loves the beach, so she takes care of it," said Lesli Allen, her aunt.
Hannah is into conservation and has advice for others. "Turn out the lights," she said. She also likes to reuse things. "She always comes up with stuff for cardboard boxes," Allen said. Hannah agreed, "I love boxes."
Hannah has also made Teddy bears out of duct tape and napkins. "She's going to be an engineer," Allen said.
