NORWALK, Conn. -- Andy Garfunkel, Democratic candidate for mayor, received the endorsement of the Working Families Party Wednesday. "We are proud of all of our endorsed candidates in Norwalk; they all have a strong record of standing up for working families on issues such as good jobs, quality public schools and open and transparent government," said Jon Green, WFP director, in a statement. "Andy Garfunkel will be the kind of mayor who stands up for average families in Norwalk and has earned our support."
"Education, job growth and reducing the tax burden on the residential taxpayer are key issues for Norwalk residents," Green stated, adding that Garfunkel pledged to take these on as mayor. "Norwalk children deserve the best education available to them so they can have the tools to reach their dreams. The small business owner is the backbone of our society; supporting their efforts through tax incentives or education will allow for growth and the opportunity for Norwalk residents to work where they live. Moving development projects forward will also create local jobs as well as reduce the tax burden on the residential taxpayer."
"I feel honored to have the endorsement of the WFP," Garfunkel said in a statement. "As a lifelong resident of Norwalk, I understand our community and the challenges facing members of our community."
