Work Begins On Wall Street Bridge Over Train Tracks In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — Commuters should take note that work has begun on the Wall Street bridge over the Metro North Railroad in Norwalk and that delays will should be expected, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Temporary lane closures on Wall Street and River Street will occur weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Two detours will be required in the near future. The first detour period lasting 70 days will limit Wall Street to eastbound traffic, only. The second detour period will last seven days and will be a complete closure of Wall Street between River and Mechanic Streets

The project, which began on Wednesday, May 4 will run through November. 

During construction pedestrian access will be maintained and detour routes will be signed. Some metered parking will be temporarily removed from service and use of the Yankee Doodle Garage is encouraged.
