What's Happening in Norwalk This Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. – It’s Mother’s Day this weekend and there are great ways to celebrate that special lady around Norwalk. Here are some of the other events happening this weekend:

Friday, May 11

Story and Crafts for Kids: 4–4:45 p.m. The main Norwalk Library is inviting parents and their children to hear a story and make crafts along with it.

Jazz Festival for Schools: 7-10 p.m. The American Legion Hall on County Street in Norwalk is hosting the Norwalk High Marching Bears, a live art auction and a silent auction. Dinner will be supplied by local eateries, as well as entertainment provided by Norwalk High School's jazz musicians.

Spend Time with Mozart: 8-10 p.m. The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra, joined by the Southern Connecticut Camerata, the choirs of Norwalk’s St. Paul’s on the Green Church and four soloists will present an evening of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in the Norwalk Concert Hall.   

Saturday, May 12

Freshen up Norwalk's Sidewalks: 9 a.m. to noon The focus will be around the street trees in the Wall Street area. Volunteers will meet at the Fat Cat Pie Company before weeding, mulching, sweeping, removing litter and improving the appearance.

Meet your Veterans: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Celebrate the return of veterans with the Frank Godrey American Legion. There will be events all day, including a Support our Troops Care Package Drive, photo opportunities, entertainment in the evening and post open house.

Walk for Whittingham, Run for Sally: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Head over to Calf Pasture Walk for a 3k walk or a 5k run to support Norwalk Hospital.

Sunday, May 13

Take a Run for Mom: 8-11 a.m. There’s a 10k walk on Calf Pasture Beach sponsored by Lightfoot Runners.

Free For Moms: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stepping Stones Museum celebrates Mother's Day by giving moms free admission all day. Other family members have to pay regular admission.

A Concert for Mom: 3-5 p.m. The annual Mother's Day Concert marks the end of the Norwalk Youth Symphony's concert season and traditionally includes the presentation of our graduating seniors and awarding of the Ramer Memorial Scholarship. The Mother's Day Concert also features a performance by the winner of the Norwalk Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.
