What's Happening in Norwalk This Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. – It’s a weekend of history, remembering the Titanic and a historic Norwalk landmark. Here are some other events happening in Norwalk June 8-10:

Friday, June 8

Titanic Remembrances :  11 a.m. to noon. Professor Sibyl A. Schwarzenbach, granddaughter of Wilson Point resident and Titanic survivor Marguerite Froelicher-Schwarzenbach, will give a talk that will include facts, photos and memories of this Swiss grandmother and her family and the survivor's recollections of the voyage. Schwarzenbach's talk will focus on memories of her grandmother "Maedi," who was on her way to New York in order to meet her fiancé. Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum, 295 West Ave. Norwalk.

So You Think You’ve Got Talent: 7:30 to 10 p.m. It’s the largest talent competition in Fairfield County, where people from all over come together to compete for a $5,000 grand prize. The audience will get to vote for the winner. Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Ave., Norwalk.

Saturday, June 9

All Breed AKC Dog Show: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Learn the characteristics of different breeds and watch purebred dogs compete in obedience trials in this all day dog show, held rain or shine at Taylor Farm Park, Canfield Avenue and Calf Pasture Beach Boulevard. $10 per car includes parking and admission.

BooZoo Hosts a Carnival : 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join BooZoo, Stepping Stones Museum’s mascot for childhood literacy, when he and his furry friends host old-fashioned carnival games, face painting, pet performances, canine cinema and other dog-themed fun that celebrates our relationship with man’s best friend. Celebrate St. Paul’s : 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. St. Paul's on the Green will celebrate 275 years of worship in Norwalk and the surrounding community on June 9. The parish community will celebrate its birthday and rich history with concerts, food, vendors, activities for children and adults, art and history tours throughout the day, and concluding with a cupcake party. St. Paul's On the Green, 60 East Ave. Norwalk.

Sunday, June 10

Blood Drive : 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Red Cross is hosting a blood drive, all types of blood are needed. Registration is recommended. St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk.

Concert on the Green : 5:30 to 7 p.m. The United States Navy Northeast Band will be performing at the Norwalk Town Green. Town Green, East Avenue, Norwalk.
