NORWALK, Conn. Its time to head outside now that the annual tree festival has arrived. Here are some of the other events in Norwalk the weekend of May 18 to 20:
Friday, May 18
Donate Time and Life: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at Merritt 7. Only blood will be accepted during this drive. Merritt Seven, 301 Main Ave., Norwalk.
Celebrate a birthday: 6 to 10 p.m. The Densmore Family invites all to attend a Black & Gold Affair to celebrate the 50th birthday of Bishop Michael D. Densmore while cruising Long Island Sound. Veterans Park, Seaview Avenue, Norwalk.
Saturday, May 19
Visit the Cop Shop: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Norwalk Police Department is throwing open the doors to their department and offering tours of the building to residents. Norwalk Police Headquarters, 1 Monroe St., Norwalk.
Flick Through the Flea Market: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Bethel AME Church will be hosting a flea market, and all are welcome to peruse the offerings. Refreshments will be sold. Bethel AME Church, 19 Academy St., Norwalk.
Celebrate the Trees: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual Norwalk-Wilton Tree Festival, will feature exhibits by local tree organizations, along with other outdoor-oriented organizations. The festival includes free hamburgers and drinks to all festival guests. Cranbury Park, 300 Grumman Ave., Norwalk.
Sunday, May 20
A Wide Open House: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Maplewood at Strawberry Hill is holding an open house for those interested in assisted living facilities Maplewood at Strawberry Hill, 73 Strawberry Hill Ave., Norwalk.
Honor the Veterans: 12:30 to 2 p.m. The Norwalk Veterans Memorial Committee will be holding a Shea-Magrath Memorial Ceremony at Calf Pasture Beach Park. A concert by the Bob Asprogato Band featuring Tenor Matthew Surapine will start promptly at 12:30 pm. The ceremony to honor Daniel Shea and John Magrath, Medal of Honor recipients, and all of the Norwalkers who gave their lives in defense of our nation, will begin at 1. Shea-McGrath Memorial, Calf Pasture Beach, Norwalk.
