Ninth Annual Golf Classic: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. In honor of Specialist Wilfredo Perez Jr., this annual golf tournament awards college scholarships to ROTC seniors at Norwalk and Brien McMahon High Schools, donates proceeds to veterans organizations and helps to fund a 9/11 memorial. Pickleball at Norwalk Senior Center: 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a double badminton court. The net is similar to a table net, but it is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and polymer Wiffle ball. Racquets and balls provided. Norwalk Senior Center, 11 Allen Road, Norwalk.
Norwalk Board of Education Public Hearing: 7:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Discussion of Superintendent Susan Marks proposed cuts in the 2012-2013 Norwalk school budget. Concert Hall, 125 East Ave., Norwalk.

Lifeline Screening at Norwalk Library: 9 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Hospital-grade community stroke and vascular screening for asymptomatic, local people ages 40 and older to uncover undiagnosed disease so that they can seek treatment with their physicians. Norwalk Main Public Library, 1 Belden Ave., Norwalk.
Summer Beach Food and Wine Tasting: 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Stew Leonards wine and beer experts have searched the globe and our own backyard to unearth more than 75 summer-worthy sippers to be showcased at this years food, wine and beer tasting event; 100 percent of the ticket price goes to benefit United Way of Coastal Fairfield County. Fourth Annual Sono Stroll: 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Starting with a cocktail reception at Black Bear South Norwalk, the evening includes hors doeuvres, live music, and a live and silent auction. Following the reception, guests will dine at one of the many participating SoNo restaurants, with a three-course meal selected from a signature menu. Food and Herbs as Medicine: 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Dr. Claire Fitzpatrick will teach how common foods such as cruciferous veggies and herbs such as ginseng and cinnamon improve fatigue, treat the common cold and enhance vitality. Mystical Parlors, 17 Washington St., Norwalk.
Celebrate the Marching Bears: 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Norwalk High School Marching Bears are holding a carnival to help fundraise for the next season. Andrews Field, 55 County St., Norwalk.
