WESTON, Conn. -- Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for Laurie Dillon, a Weston resident who purchased a Mega Millions ticket on Dec. 13 and won $1 million.

Dillon's "quick pick" ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball number that would have given her the jackpot of more than $636 million.

A total of 146,261 winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in Connecticut, with prizes ranging from $1 to $1 million. Dillon was the only $1 million winner in the state.

Furkan “Frank” Kudia, owner of Weston Hardware and Housewares at 190 Weston Road in Weston, received a $2,500 check for selling the winning ticket.

“I’m just so happy that somebody who lives locally won,” Kudia said in a statement.  “Hopefully, we can be a lucky store for other lottery players, too.”

The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn on Dec. 13 were 19, 24, 26, 27, 70 with the Mega Ball number of 12.

Congratulations! It couldn't have happened to a nicer family. After taxes, it should just about cover the cost of college for the kids.

Very nice win, coming just before Christmas, and I'm sure the lucky winner won't mind a bit about being slightly overshadowed by all the Mega headlines.
I have my own little just-for-fun page which generates my own personal random quick pick numbers. As I say, it is only for fun, but you never know your luck! Look out for VillaLibra if you want to see if you can locate it.
