WESTON, Conn. -- Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for Laurie Dillon, a Weston resident who purchased a Mega Millions ticket on Dec. 13 and won $1 million.
Dillon's "quick pick" ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Mega Ball number that would have given her the jackpot of more than $636 million.
A total of 146,261 winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in Connecticut, with prizes ranging from $1 to $1 million. Dillon was the only $1 million winner in the state.
Furkan “Frank” Kudia, owner of Weston Hardware and Housewares at 190 Weston Road in Weston, received a $2,500 check for selling the winning ticket.
“I’m just so happy that somebody who lives locally won,” Kudia said in a statement. “Hopefully, we can be a lucky store for other lottery players, too.”
The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn on Dec. 13 were 19, 24, 26, 27, 70 with the Mega Ball number of 12.
