Verizon Launches a Faster Network Locally

Verizon Wireless customers in Fairfield County could surf the web, download files and share photos and music faster than ever before starting Thursday. That's when Verizon introduced its 4G Long Term Evolution network to the area, a company press release said.

“We are proud to help Connecticut residents, small businesses and local government connect faster and more fully with the introduction of our 4G LTE network,” said Christine Berberich, New England Region President for Verizon Wireless. “Our 4G LTE network is revolutionizing the way people communicate, and we know this connectivity will be a key technology enabler for many years to come.”

Devices connected to the 4G LTE network will automatically reconnect to Verizon’s 3G network when users leave a 4G LTE area. Fairfield County is one of the first places in the country to have the new network. By the end of the year it will also be deployed in Hartford and several Massachusetts counties, Verizon said.

The following towns in Fairfield County are included in the 4G LTE network: Bridgeport, Darien,      Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, and    Westport. Towns in New Haven County also are part of the deployment.
