Two Norwalk Men Assaulted By Men With Clubs

NORWALK, Conn. – Two Norwalk men were beaten with bats and sticks on Larsen Street late Sunday night by a group of unknown assailants.

Police received a report of the attack from a hysterical-sounding woman. When officers went to the house she was calling from, a man came out with blood on his shirt. He could barely stand, they said, and was taken to Norwalk Hospital for medical attention. Another man came out of the home saying he had been hit on the back with a baseball bat or stick. He declined medical attention.

The caller said the two men had been standing in front of the house when a group of men came up to them and started beating them with bats and sticks. She told police they had no idea who the attackers were or why they were assaulted.

Also from the Norwalk police blotter:

Mary Paragarino, 51, of Stamford was charged with shoplifting from Kohl’s and running out on a cab fare. Police said that they received a report from the store’s loss prevention officer that Paragarino tried to take $1,503.95 worth of merchandise and had fled.

Police caught up with Paragarino outside the nearby Home Depot. The loss prevention officer arrived and said she had placed 24 pieces of clothing and shoes in a cart and tried to walk out of the store with them. A cab driver told police the woman skipped out on a $25 fare when he dropped her off outside the store.

Police said Paragarino had been accused of stealing from the store before and was not allowed on the premises. She was arrested and charged with fourth-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and criminal trespassing.
