Expect traffic diversions on Washington Street Monday "The Big C" is returning. The award winning Showtime original series about a woman living with cancer will be shooting on the street all day, adding an extra element of activity on the first day of Sono's Restaurant Week.
Production will begin at 7 a.m. Monday and will culminate with a scene on the Straffolino Bridge at sunset. Washington Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for brief periods in the morning and early afternoon hours during the production. The street will remain open to pedestrian traffic.
Norwalk Police will be stationed at entrances to Washington Street to direct traffic along convenient alternative routes. Police will be accompanied by "ambassadors" who will be available to assist with questions about parking and restaurant week activities.
Many of Sono's restaurants are offering luncheon and dinner specials during Restaurant Week. Retail businesses are hoping visitors will enjoy shopping before and after dining.
"The Big C" stars Laura Linney, who won a Golden Globe for her role in the series.
