Tanker Truck Rolls Over, Spills Antifreeze Across I-95 In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Traffic was jammed for hours after a tanker truck carrying antifreeze rolled over in a multi-vehicle accident on I-95 north in Bridgeport early Sunday evening, state police said.

Immediately after the crash, northbound I-95 was closed in the vicinity of the crash, which was between exits 27 and 27A in Bridgeport, state police said. Eventually, one lane was reopened and then all lanes were reopened after 1 a.m.

The crash, which occurred at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, involved several vehicles and an antifreeze spill onto the roadway, state police said.

State police were on the scene along with officials from the state Department of Transportation and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which was cleaning up the spill. 

Cleanup of the multi-vehicle crash scene and the spill continued well after midnight, according to DOT. 

Minor injuries were reported, state police said.
