Sunday Snow Just A Prelude To Thursday Storm In Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The 1 to 2 inches of snow coming Sunday night are just a precursor of what is to come later this week in Fairfield County, the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement.

A total of 1 to 2 inches of snow will fall as a storm spreads over the area from west to east, with flurries expected to begin late Sunday afternoon, the weather service said.

There will still be enough snow to create slick travel across the Northeast, Accuweather.com said, with 1 to 3 inches of snow spreading along the I-95 and I-84 corridors along the East Coast from Philadelphia to Portland, Maine.

But a strong winter storm is possible in Fairfield County from Wednesday night through Thursday, although the timing and intensity are uncertain, the weather service said. Up to 6 inches or more of snow is possible in the storm. The chance of snow is 50 percent.

On Sunday, temperatures should drop into the teens in the evening, with most snow before 11 p.m. Chance of snow is 90 percent.

Monday will be sunny with a high near 27 and an overnight low in the single digits.
