NORWALK, Conn. -- The student who died unexpectedly on Friday at J.M. Wright Technical High School in Stamford has been identified as 15-year-old Kaydriene Aristhene of Norwalk.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Kaydriene Aristhene," said a Facebook post from Norwalk Public Schools. "A Norwalk resident, Kaydriene attended West Rocks Middle School before joining Wright Tech for high school this year. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends."

Her death was due to a medical condition , state police said.

Kaydriene was in the culinary arts program at the state-run technical high school, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The girl, who had asthma, appeared to have trouble breathing before possibly going into cardiac arrest on Friday while at school, according to the Stamford Advocate.

On Monday, students honored Aristhene by holding a moment of silence and by wearing purple ribbon pins, which was her favorite color, the Advocate said.

Nivea Torres, superintendent of the Connecticut Technical High School System, said counselors and social workers will be available for students this week, the story said.

J.M. Wright Technical High School is a regional state-run technical high school that serves students from Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Westport, Wilton and Weston.
