NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk Economic Development Director Elizabeth Stocker is leaving her position after three years, according to the Hour.

Mayor Harry Rilling told the Hour last week that Stocker would be leaving, and that the city would be moving forward and figuring out how to continue with the economic development process and attracting new business to the city.

Stocker was appointed in 2014 as part of a plan to bring new businesses and investments to the city. She had previously served as Newtown's director of economic and community development and planning since 1990, and as an assistant planner for Norwalk.

During her tenure as Economic Development Director, Stocker helped introduce the city's Economic Development Action Plan in 2015.

Rilling did not elaborate on the nature of Stocker's departure, according to the Hour. However, she had not been seen in City hall for about two weeks, and her voicemail directed callers to other officers, the Hour reported.
