Station Eats Makes Stop in Downtown Stamford

Across the street from the Palace Theater, just steps down the block and up a flight of stairs, a better burger is waiting for you. Station Eats, a locally owned burger joint, has pulled into downtown Stamford at 60 Atlantic St.

Loyal fans will know Station Eats from its original location in New Canaan. With the addition of a second restaurant, owners Nicholas Type and Seth Leifer have expanded their burger-based empire.

“We have the same menu as New Canaan,” explains Type. “Station Burgers, Station Dogs, and salads and veggie burgers, too. We know you can’t eat burgers everyday,” he smiles. “Actually, we’ve changed the recipe for the veggie burger. Want to try it?”

The new recipe is a definite departure from the previous falafel style veggie burger. “This one is made with all kinds of veggies,” says Type. “Cauliflower, broccoli, potato, corn. We also threw in a little cumin and coriander.” The result is a real signature dish—crispy with just the right balance of spice, and complemented by the slightly tangy “Station Sauce” and a side of organic fries.

Outdoor eating on the patio overlooking Atlantic St. is also new. “We can seat an additional 60 to 70 people outside,” says Type of the spacious outdoor area, now dotted with brightly covered picnic tables.

Most weekdays, you’ll find the bright, funky interior packed with a business crowd for lunch. But with Station Eats also offering several beers, wines and “high octane” spiked milkshakes, it has the potential to prove a real contender on the pre-show dinner and weekend dining scene in downtown Stamford.

“It’s really a terrific location, because we’re so central to the Palace, the movie theaters and everything that’s happening downtown,” says Type. And the generous outdoor patio space is almost unrivaled, bumping it’s status to “destination restaurant.”

If you’re looking for a better burger and a dining experience to match, its time to pull into Station Eats.
