NORWALK, Conn. A pedestrian who was hit by a car last week on Connecticut Avenue has died, Norwalk Police say. Teresa Guerra, 55, of Fairfield Avenue died of severe head trauma, spinal injury and a fractured sternum, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.
Guerra was struck by a BMW driven by a 42-year-old Stamford man as she was crossing the road at 525 Connecticut Ave., at about 6:13 p.m. Feb. 5. Both the driver and a witness who was driving slightly behind him to the left said they did not see Guerra, who was carrying food from a nearby Burger King. Other witnesses could not say where she was crossing the road.
Police were notified Friday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the cause of her death. Cotto did not say when Guerra died.
The road is poorly illuminated, and there is no crosswalk, Cotto said. The accident happened 600 feet from the Burger King. The police investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
