NORWALK, Conn. A man was hit over the head and robbed in South Norwalk on Monday morning. The assailant hit several parked cars and rammed a Norwalk Police cruiser as he attempted to escape, Sgt. Andre Velez said. A Norwalk Police officer was injured while apprehending the suspect, who was Tasered. A nearby robbery appeared to be connected.
Details on the crime spree were sketchy, as it happened just before 11 a.m. and Norwalk Police were still investigating. Velez could not release the name of the suspect or the injured officer.
He said a man was hit on the head with a rock on Novak Street and robbed. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital. As the assailant tried to evade police, he hit parked cars, mostly on Novak Street. Velez did not say whether the suspect intentionally hit the police car.
There was another strong arm robbery in the area of Oxford Street involving a vehicle and possibly a collision. Most of the police patrol unit was involved with the investigation at about noon.
