Small Stream Flood Advisory Issued As Storm Heads For Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Fairfield County until 1:45 p.m. Sunday. 

At 11 a.m., Doppler radar showed showers and thundershowers over Southern Westchester County that were moving slowly northeast, the weather service said.

Fairfield County residents should expect heavy downpours, which will likely produce urban and poor drainage flooding, the weather service said. Rainfall could total 2 inches per hour.   

Residents are warned not to drive vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway. 

Sunday's forecast calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms with a high near 83 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday night, mainly after midnight. Patchy fog is expect after 2 a.m., the weather service said. 

Showers and thunderstorms are likely again on Labor Day with patchy fog in the morning, the weather service said. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall with a high near 84 degrees.
