NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk officials are reminding residents that the city has switched to single-stream recycling, and as a result recyclables will only be collected in city-issued blue rolling bins.
Norwalk switched to the single-stream system in June, which allows residents to put all recyclable material in the same bin without sorting. Because the system uses automated trucks, residents need to follow a few rules for the operation to work smoothly:
? Use only the town-issued blue bin, with all items inside the bin. ? Place the bin on the curb the night before pick-up with the arrow facing the street. ? Leave the bin free of obstructions, such as branches, bushes or vehicles, with space for the truck’s arm to grab the can.
