Race Suspected in Norwalk Car Vandalism

NORWALK, Conn. – Three cars in the Emerson Street, East Avenue area were keyed Saturday and race appeared to be the motivation, police report. Swear words were scratched into a car parked on Villaway Street, including the words, "You Nigga" into the door. "I see you" was scratched into the rear hatchback.

The owner of that car had a possible suspect in mind for police, but other victims said they couldn't think of anyone who would do that. One car was scratched the entire length of its left side and the other car had a swear word scratch into its left front door. Police completed a bias crime report for the Connecticut State Police on the incidents.

Also from the police blotter:

A man walked down a Norwalk street breaking windows early Monday, Norwalk Police said, bloodying his hands as he went. Police said he was intoxicated.

Harringson Arango, 31, of 80 Fair St., was charged with criminal mischief first degree, carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace second degree. Bond was $5,000.

Police responded to the 12:14 a.m. call of a man breaking into cars at 7 Commerce St. and found Arango, his hands covered in blood in the area of the Area 504 bar, according to Sgt. James Belmont. He denied breaking windows but the bar's bouncer said he had broken the window there and a window in a building next door, according to police.
