NORWALK, Conn. – A woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday night when she was stabbed during a confrontation in South Norwalk, police say.
The 45-year-old woman walked into Norwalk Police headquarters at 10:04 p.m. to report the stabbing, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said. She had been stabbed in the left shoulder. Paramedics transported her to Norwalk Hospital.
The woman said she had dropped a friend off at the King Kennedy public housing complex on Chestnut Street, according to Cotto. She said something struck her car, she didn't know what. She confronted a group of people who were standing across the street and was stabbed. She said she didn't know who they were.
Police canvassed the neighborhood, Cotto said.

Ken P is right. This happened in front of a group of people who were outside, and possibly others who heard the commotion and looked out their windows. Yet nobody bothered to call the Police, leaving the woman to drive herself to the Police Station to report her stab wound. Lovely.
There is also the question of who allowed the group of people to hang out on their property. If the group did not have permission to be on someone's property, then they were trespassing. If they were on public property, then they were loitering. Had an ordinary citizen called the Police to advise that a group of people was trespassing or loitering, the Police could have sent a unit to break up the group, and this incident may never have occurred. This is what I mean when I say that every citizen needs to do what he or she can to give the Police information that helps them make us safer. It's NOT enough to simply pay your taxes and expect all crime to magically disappear. Get involved, report crime in your neighborhood -- even minor stuff -- and you can make a difference. If you just look the other way and turn up the TV then you bear part of the blame for your neighborhood's sorry state.

It's a shame that people near Wilton have to travel farther, but South Norwalk is where most incidents happen so I think it does make sense to have the Police Station there. Yes it's an inconvenience for people who live on the Wilton line, but if it improves response times then it's an overall benefit for Norwalk. Plus people nearer to Wilton can use the Route 7 connector to get to SoNo.
I have to say this...they moved the police station to S. Norwalk, in the hopes (I assume) of curbing crime. To me it seems that the criminals are thumbing their nose at the police and doing MORE crime!
They should have put the station in the center of Norwalk..people living close to Wilton have to travel twice as far as before in order to get to the police dept.
And Crimes are unsolved because witnesses dont say anything!
Confronted a group in south Norwalk and was stabbed. No witnesses, no concerned citizens, nobody saw a thing? Typical........
It's unfortunate Tim that they don't do this in front of he police. But I guess they're just smart enough to know that while most residents look the other way the police don't.
