A collision between a Norwalk police cruiser and a private vehicle Wednesday morning near the Norwalk Courthouse injured both drivers. Officer Hector Delgado was responding to a medical call, traveling west on Cross Street. A 47-year-old Norwalk woman was driving her Nissan Altima south on Belden Avenue. At 8:22 a.m. they collided in the center of the intersection of Cross and Belden. Airbags deployed in both vehicles. The woman suffered arm injuries and lacerations from broken glass. Delgado suffered a cut to the head that needed seven stitches. Both are expected to make full recoveries.
There was significant damage to both vehicles. The cruiser had front end damage. The Altima was damaged on the driver's side. The accident is under investigation.
