Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates Person-to-Person adheres to best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.
Person-to-Person, which serves Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton, provides low-income individuals and families with basic emergency services.
The goal of Charity Navigator is to provide donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.
Only 6 percent of the charities rated by Charity Navigator have received at least five consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating Person-to-Person outperforms most other charities in America.
Person-to-Person Executive Director Ceci Maher said the agency works diligently to ensure donations, whether in-kind or cash, directly benefit the people who come to the agency for assistance.
“In 2015, more than 2,200 individuals, businesses, foundations, congregations, schools and community organizations helped P2P provide financial assistance, food and clothing to 25,894 men, women and children. And for over a decade, we have been able to report that more than 90 percent of all donations go directly to client programs and services,” Maher said.
