To take part, residents of Norwalk and surrounding communities are asked to drop off new or gently used winter coats and jackets through Nov. 13 at the P2P Norwalk location, 76 S. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
More than 800 coats and jackets were distributed last year, and the residents in need are most grateful for the opportunity to find cold-weather outerwear for their children and themselves, said Callie Jayne, Norwalk site manager for P2P. Items needed include coats, hats, gloves, boots and scarves.
“If people have jackets and coats they no longer want or need, or if their children have outgrown outerwear from last year, we hope they will consider bringing them to P2P for our neighbors in need," Jayne said.
All donations will be sorted by volunteers – including members of the Beiersdorf BDF Cares Team – for distribution on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room of the Norwalk Police Department.
According to Michelle Onofrio, director of Consumer & Market Insights at Beiersdorf, the same passion and commitment that Beiersdorf employees bring to making their business successful extends beyond the company offices to the local community: “The Annual Coat Drive benefits people in Norwalk who do not have the resources to purchase winter coats and jackets. Beiersdorf employees understand the importance of this effort and are proud to contribute to its success – from donating and collecting winter outerwear to helping distribute these items to Norwalk residents.”
Jayne encourages people to contact her at 203 621-0691 or calliejayne@p2pHelps.org if they want to organize a coat drive at their school, house of worship or place of business.
