A Norwalk man apparently lost his shirt (and all his other clothing) over a cab fare early Friday, as he showed up at the door completely nude when Norwalk police arrived to ask for the money.
Police were called by a driver for Yellow Cab, out of New York City, at 3:25 a.m., according to Sgt. Lisa Cotto. The man had gotten into his cab in the city and asked for a ride to 84 Roton Ave. in Norwalk, although he had no money on him. He said he would give the driver the money when he got there.
The fare was $180. Delivered to the correct address, the man got out of the car and went to the front door. But he seemed to have trouble opening it, the cabbie said. He went around back, and that was the last the cabbie saw of him.
When police made their presence known, a man opened the door not wearing a stitch of clothing, Cotto said. Police asked whether he had just gotten out of the cab and he said yes. He wrote the driver a check for the amount owed.
Also on the police blotter:
Police were called to a Fillow Street home at 10:46 p.m. for a complaint of a burglary attempt. The woman who called said she heard noises in the home. It turned out that someone was sending her a fax.
