Norwalker Frank Tavella, 89, WWII Veteran

NORWALK, Conn. — Francis J. "Frank" Tavella, 89, of Norwalk, a retired supervisor with the Second District Water Department in South Norwalk, died Friday at Norwalk Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. Tavella was a member of the Westport VFW, the American Legion and the South Norwalk Boat Club. He loved to fish and enjoyed watching golf and his Yankees.Frank is survived by his siblings Flora Tavella, James Tavella and his partner Dolores Wicke, Jane Gilchrist, and Joseph Tavella and his wife Aline, all of Norwalk, as well as many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to St. Philip Church .
