A man who allegedly pushed his wife down on the floor and stole money from her bra was arrested Thursday. Jerry Abdusshihed, 24, of 30 West Ave. was charged with larceny second degree, threatening, disorderly conduct and injury/risk/impairing morals.
The victim was standing along West Avenue holding her 3-year-old daughter in her arms and screaming when Norwalk Police arrived at about 4:15 a.m. She said her husband had taken $300 from her, money she needed to feed the child.
They had begun arguing in front of the child after she returned from work at 2 a.m. He allegedly hit her in the face before taking the cash. She tried to call 911and he took her cell phone, police said. Then he ran off down West Avenue.
The wife wasn't hurt and refused medical treatment. Police were waiting when Abdusshihed came back later. They said he had 21 $20 bills on him and admitted fighting with his wife but said he didn't hit her. He said he had taken her phone but only because he wanted to work things out without police being involved.
