Norwalk Woman Charged in Pizza Dispute

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk woman is suspecting of throwing desserts on the floor at a Norwalk pizza restaurant and punching a clerk in the face Thursday night because she thought he had stolen her cellphone, Norwalk police say.

Yashieka Battle, 33, of 45 Ely Ave., had dinner at Jordan's Too Pizza on Flax Hill Road and left her phone on the table when she left, Sgt. James Walsh said. When she came back and asked for it, the clerk said he had found it and was holding it for her. She accused him of stealing the phone, and an argument ensued.

When Battle threw the desserts on the floor, the clerk opened the door and told her to leave, Walsh said. She punched him four times in the face, but he was not injured, Walsh said.

Police were called at 9:39 p.m. After getting a description from the clerk, they found Battle at Buda and Oak streets. She appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Walsh said. The clerk identified her as his assailant, police said.

Battle was arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace. The bond was set at $500. Walsh said there was no assault charge because the clerk wasn't hurt.
