Kimani Williams, 19, of 31 Clay St., was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree breach of peace, Lt. Paul Resnick said. He was held on a court set bond of $100,000.
Sgt. David O'Connor Williams said Williams tried to throw a drink at a female with whom he has an ongoing dispute, at the Suncrest Road party Saturday night. Then Williams took a handgun out of his pocket, in front of children. Someone suggested calling the police. The gun was then passed to several people, which O'Connor said is a technique used to make it more difficult for police to investigate the complaint.
Williams and another man then ran out. Police responded to the 9:46 p.m. complaint of three men running with a gun through the back field at Colonial Village and spoke to witnesses who provided a description of the man with the gun. Later they identified Williams.
Williams has a criminal record of firearms and narcotics convictions.
