NORWALK, Conn. -- Don't go to City Hall Friday if you need to pay your taxes. The tax collector's and assessor's offices will be unable to process payments or make adjustments from noon to closing at 4:30 p.m.
The software used by both offices is being upgraded to accommodate changes to the Connecticut state withholding tax laws that go into effect Aug. 1 as part of the new state budget.
The upgrade needs to be done before Aug. 1 and has been scheduled for this weekend, beginning Friday. All city departments that use this software (including the entire Finance Department) are affected.
