It allows residents and businesses to report quality of life issues, such as litter, potholes and drainage problems quickly and easily. The demonstration of this new application will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall in the first floor atrium.
“Every day, our customer service center and city departments receive calls from concerned citizens regarding quality of life issues," Rilling said. "This innovation improves citizen communication through a simple smart phone or web application. Although we will still have customer service representatives available for those who prefer to communicate concerns by phone, 'Click and Request' will establish an electronic record of reports by GPS location, automatically send the request to the appropriate city department for resolution and integrate it into the city’s work order management system in record time. Citizens and businesspeople will be able to track the progress of their requests. In addition, they will be able to create an online neighborhood ‘watch zone’ so they will be alerted to other requests in their area.”
The application is available for free download at the iPhone App Store, Google Playstore or www.norwalkct.org. Rilling credited the Norwalk Departments of Public Works and Information Technology for their work on the project.
