The City of Norwalk established a long-term recovery committee led by the Fire Department, the Office of Emergency Management and the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency.

“We are grateful for the partnership with Redevelopment and North-Walke housing who took the lead in providing case management and financial assistance to residents,” Fire Chief Denis McCarthy said in a statement. “They’re leadership in partnership with Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, United Way, Fairfield County Community Foundation, Robin Hood Foundation and the American Red Cross has made a significant impact for Norwalk families struggling with their recovery.”

Since the storm, many residents in low-lying areas have elevated their homes to protect them from future storms. While some funding resources are no longer available, there are still options for residents who need assistance or would like to elevate or protect their homes and properties.

“Shore Up CT” provides financing for property owners in coastal municipalities who  do not qualify for receiving federal disaster aid and would have to pay significant out-of-pocket expenses for the preventative upgrades. Click here to apply for a loan.
