Norwalk Power Outages Creep Up To 125

NORWALK, Conn. — With snow and sleet falling in Norwalk as of 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Connecticut Light & Power was reporting that 125 of its customers in the city were without power.

The number crept up from 49 without power about an hour earlier.

Four Department of Public Works crews had begun salting Norwalk roads, according to Mayor Richard Moccia, and additional crews may be called in during the evening.

The bad weather pushed the Norwalk Board of Education to cancel its meeting Wednesday night and reschedule it for next Tuesday.

Wednesday afternoon's high tide did not result in any flooding, city officials said, and the next high tide is expected after 4 a.m. Thursday.

In addition to DPW crews, Norwalk police and fire personnel are also on alert should the nor'easter lead to more weather-related problems, Moccia said.
