NORWALK, Conn. A man who police say caused a five-car collision June 14 in front of City Hall has been arrested on drunken-driving charges. Carlos Irias, 32, of 8 N. Taylor Ave., Norwalk, was charged with evading responsibility, operating without carrying a license, failure to drive on the right, operating under the influence and making an improper turn.
Police say his blood alcohol level was 0.262, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08. They say they found a closed Paul Masson Grande Amber Brandy bottle in the driver's door compartment. It was more than half-empty, and there was blood on the bottle. On the driver's seat floor was an open Corona bottle, partially empty. Police also found two Coors Light cans, two empty Miller Light bottles and two empty Miller Light cans. There was also an empty 1-ounce bottle of brandy.
Irias ran a light on East Avenue and hit three cars, one of which hit another car, police say. No one was injured.
