NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Parking Authority and Mayor Harry Rilling have partnered to offer free two-hour parking through Dec. 24 at the Yankee Doodle Garage to support and encourage shopping and dining during the holiday season.
Julius Hayward, chairman of the Norwalk Parking Authority said, “Parking is the first and last experience people have. We want to help people to find parking easily, get out of their cars, walk around, shop, dine and enjoy Norwalk’s amazing downtown. We are happy to partner with Mayor Rilling to offer this parking program during the holiday season.”
Rilling said that “this is a great opportunity for the business community to offer retail and dining specials that will attract new and existing customers while enjoying the free holiday parking special.”
The Parking Authority reminds all that the two hour limit will remain in effect to encourage turnover of all parking spaces. Merchants are encouraged to require that their employees utilize alternatives to the on street parking so that their customers will find on street spaces to park during the day and during the entire holiday season.
