“Thanks to the generosity of our fundholders and donors, young people are going to college, low-income families are living in safe housing they can afford, the arts are recovering from the recession, and dozens of causes are receiving support,” said Juanita James, Community Foundation president and CEO, in a press release.
“The Community Foundation and many of our donors also focus on regional issues such as helping youth become self-sufficient by 25, women achieve economic security, and nonprofits become even more efficient and effective.”
Countywide, the Community Foundation awarded nearly $5.5 million in grants to 341 Fairfield County non-profits.
In addition, 262 scholarships worth more than $707,000 were awarded to students in Fairfield County.
