Norwalk Man Nabbed Stealing Tires and Rims

Thanks to a vigilant neighbor, Norwalk police arrested a 20-year-old man early Thursday and charged him with stealing the tires from an Infiniti G37 and leaving the car on blocks. According to police, the tires and rims were worth $1,000 each.

Police said Angel Pol-Diaz confessed as he was being patted down, saying, "I just took the tires and the wheels off a car." Authorities said Pol-Diaz had lug nuts in his pocket and two tires on his back seat. They said there was fresh dirt and grease on his hands.

Police were called to Ledgebrook Drive at 4:30 a.m. by a neighbor who said he thought he saw someone taking tires off a vehicle. The witness said the thief had sped down Gillies Lane in a black car. Police blocked Gillies Lane and apprehended Pol-Diaz.

The car’s owner said the tires were an upgrade from Infiniti to the 20-inch size.

Police say the Pol-Diaz planned to sell them for cash. He was charged with larceny in the third degree.
