WILTON, Conn. Wilton emergency personnel have responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a truck on Route 7 for the second time this week.
Frank Johnson, 71, of Quaker Road, Norwalk, was traveling north on Route 7, near the area of 991 Danbury Road , around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when his Volkswagen sedan crossed the center lane, entered the southbound travel lane and was struck by a Mack dump truck, Wilton Police Lt. Donald Wakeman said.
Georgetown Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident and pronounced Johnson dead at the scene, police report.
Neither the truck driver, Charles Dattilo, 43, of Norwalk, nor his passenger, Bernard Esposito, 36, also of Norwalk, were injured.
The Wilton Police Department Accident Investigation unit is conducting the investigation. The Connecticut State Police Commercial Truck Unit assisted with the examination of the dump truck, which is owned by Norwalk-based M. Lato Excavating Co.
Because the accident remains under investigation no charges have been filed.
Route 7 was closed and traffic rerouted from the time of Thursday's accident until 3:45 a.m. Friday.
